On Saturday night, the NCAA Transfer Portal delivered some very important news to the Oklahoma quarterback room. News of Davis Beville’s purported portal entry surfaced just minutes after he was identified as the backup quarterback when the Sooners unveiled their depth chart for the Dec. 28 Alamo Bowl. That’s according to a report by Pete Nakos of On3, who covers the Transfer Portal and College Sports Business.
It’s uncertain if Beville will play against Arizona in the Alamo Bowl on Thursday. It was revealed that Beville would be freshman Jackson Arnold’s backup for the bowl game, just forty-five minutes before to Nakos’ tweet. Third-string quarterback General Booty is listed as a walk-on.
Arnold is the backup for the No. 12-ranked Sooners (10-2), while Dillon Gabriel starts. Beville saw action in just two games this season, totaling seven offensive snaps. After suffering a leg injury late in the Sooners’ 73-0 triumph over Arkansas State, he returned to the field to help the team defeat West Virginia 59-20.
