The manager of the New York Yankees provides a significant update on Jasson Dominguez’s 2024 injury condition. This past season, Jasson Dominguez, a young player for the New York Yankees, made his Major League Baseball debut with a home run in his first at-bat against Justin Verlander, a future Hall of Fame inductee. Despite having elbow surgery to halt his rookie season, Dominguez’s prognosis for 2024 is encouraging.

In September of this year, Dominguez, who is twenty years old, had a torn UCL in his elbow and needed Tommy John surgery. The young outfielder initially continued to play despite the injury, but his output steadily declined. Dominguez’s availability for Opening Day 2024 was uncertain following his TJS procedure.

Without Aaron Judge, New York Yankees Continue To Struggle Offensively

Pitchers who undergo Tommy John surgery may miss up to 18 months of work, but position players recover considerably more quickly. After undergoing TJS, NL MVP Bryce Harper was able to rejoin the Philadelphia Phillies lineup 160 days later. It seems that the rising star for the Yankees might have a comparable comeback timeline.

Although there is no set timetable for Dominguez’s comeback, New York captain Aaron Boone assured reporters that the rookie outfielder will appear like his normal self throughout spring training. Dominguez is recovering from TJS “really well.”

With regard to Dominguez’s return to the starting lineup, this is undoubtedly encouraging news for the Yankees. According to earlier projections, the rising star should return in June, but a quicker recovery might strengthen New York’s starting lineup in the first few games of 2024.Yankees' power-hitting prospect killing it in Triple-A, says 'my day will come' - nj.com

For New York, there is one more problem, though. The only position left is designated hitter with Alex Verdugo in left field, Juan Soto in right field, and Aaron Judge in centre field. Giancarlo Stanton holds that position, and Trent Grisham is New York’s fourth outfielder.

The Yankees may decide that regular at-bats in Triple-A are the best option for Dominguez whenever he is cleared to return. While it would prevent Yankee Stadium from being home to one of baseball’s most thrilling stars
