NBA rumours: Donovan Mitchell trade reality slapped by Cavs on Knicks and Nets
Despite the roster issues, the Cleveland Cavaliers are allegedly not considering trading for Donovan Mitchell at this time.
Following the lengthy injuries to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, rumours of a possible trade involving Donovan Mitchell to either the New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets have been rife. However, Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports reports that Cleveland is not currently considering moving the star player.
With a record of 15-12, the Cavaliers presently hold sixth place in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers may move down in the Eastern Conference rankings in the near future due to Darius Garland and Evan Mobley’s absences, but for the time being, Fischer says the team’s strategy is to keep trying to compete. Cleveland’s deficit to the fourth spot is just two games.
The Cavaliers anticipated competing for at least the next two years when they outbid the Knicks to acquire Donovan Mitchell from the Utah Jazz. Cleveland would need to experience a significant run of losses before abandoning their plans and dealing him before this year’s trade deadline, particularly to an Eastern Conference team like the Knicks or the Nets.
What a signing: Brookyn nes has made an excellent tra… but, that is not the current situation, nor is it the front office’s current plan.
