Pittsburgh — In the most recent NFL mock draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select their quarterback of the future, but a change in the draft order determined how they selected their next QB.
The Steelers trade with the Green Bay Packers to move up to pick No. 11, where they choose Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. in Ryan Wilson’s most recent mock draft for CBS Sports. They forfeit the 16th overall choice in return
.
Wilson remarked, “The offence of the Steelers feels like it comes from the 1850s, not even the 1950s.” “And Michael Penix Jr. is a guy who can throw the deep ball,” the statement reads. And you know what George Pickens and Diontae Johnson like to do? Take a deep breath. Michael Penix Jr. is unique, but who knows what this will look like in a year with everything going on in the locker room. He’s among college football’s top deep ball throwers, if not the best.”
Penix hasn’t been selected in the top 15 in the majority of mock drafts, but as the offseason approaches, he might find himself rising. It makes perfect sense for the Steelers to move up the draft board in search of a quarterback, and this is a possibility for this team.
Regarding Penix? It will be interesting to watch how high he climbs. However, it’s not impossible that the Steelers might switch locations and try to make a deal in the first round’s opening stages.
