There is no end to the reports of former Ohio State players selecting their new homes through the transfer portal. Ryan Turner, a cornerback, entered the debate on Friday when he declared his intention to transfer to Boston College.

Turner’s entry into the transfer portal wasn’t all that surprising given his decline in the depth chart for the defensive backfield spot of the Ohio State Buckeyes. As a three-star prospect in the 2022 class, he committed to OSU, but as a freshman, he redshirted.

He played in just five games for the Buckeyes last season, mostly in mop-up duty, as OSU then added a number of other recruits and transfers to bolster a struggling 2022 squad. It’s unclear where the room goes from here, but Turner surely felt compelled to transfer to a different programme given that other well-known high school prospects were expected to join the group.

We wish him all the best, just as we do for every Ohio State player who finds a new home through the portal.
