Beginning in 2024, Auburn will have to rearrange its defensive backfield.

Numerous veteran players will be leaving the Tigers for the NFL and graduation. Fortunately, STAR/Nickel Keionte Scott will be coming back to play in Auburn’s bowl game as well as in his senior year in 2024.

On Monday afternoon, Scott informed the media that he will be switching to defensive back, effective against Maryland.

Scott will now play outside cornerback instead of nickelback.

During the Monday press conference, Scott stated, “(The change) will start with this game in the bowl game, where I’ll be back on the outside on that island.” “I’m eager to do it.”

Scott is eager to offer NFL scouts another season of him at an alternative position after moving to outside cornerback. Scott claims that using the sideline will benefit him in coverage as a defender.

“When you get to be able to use the sideline as your friend, I feel like it helps me more because I’ve gone from having to guys with so much space to guarding guys that if I do win a certain leverage, that I can force them to one side and basically turn it to a one side release,” Scott stated. “I can’t wait to get back outside, get some sideline assistance, and focus on the ball.”

“I am eager to return to the outdoors and to ‘Key Island,’ as it was my first residence.”
