“I adore Cleveland. Before I moved out of Cleveland, I had no idea the city had such a terrible reputation. Without a doubt, I’m grateful for the city. I got everything tattooed on me.”

Back in high school, Dre’Mont realized that football would always take precedence over basketball.

“It just happened naturally. I have respect for the coach who was present, but I wasn’t a fan of the way he led. The coach caused me to lose a little bit of my basketball passion. I could also dunk, but I wasn’t doing it for everyone. That’s sort of the reason I made the switch.”

Growing up in that area, Ohio State is the university that everyone wants to attend.

“Columbus is the school that everyone wants to attend growing up, and it’s about two hours south of Cleveland. Growing up, I was always a huge football fan, but I never imagined that I would be able to attend Ohio State, which is highly sought after in Cleveland.”

The rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State will always exist.

“Yes, those things really are dead. I didn’t take it lightly in college. As expected, we approached it with seriousness. It’s not as significant now that I’m a little older and in the league, but returning to Ohio still holds significance for me.

He moved to Seattle in the spring and is loving his time here.


“I’m really enjoying Seattle. The vibe is completely different. The food is much better than I had anticipated. It’s unquestionably among the best cities for cuisine. I’ve been doing the touristy things, but I want to do more. I’d like to get out on a boat and enjoy the water more.”

He is looking forward to fellow Buckeye Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s season.

“I can’t wait to see how Jaxon performs. Given that I’m returning to Ohio State and speaking.
