The Michigan Wolverines have once again shown that they are a cohesive team, and their 2023 campaign finished with a perfect 13-0 regular season record and a third consecutive Big Ten Championship. Head coach Jim Harbaugh came up with the term “we-fense” earlier in the season to characterize his team’s unselfish football play, prioritizing the team’s success over individual honors. Consequently, there is no lack of Wolverines who have contributed
significantly to Michigan’s success this year. The depth of this team, both offensively and defensively, has enabled Harbaugh to field a strong rotation full of players who are more than capable of producing huge plays.
Having said that, these are the players who have led Michigan in terms of statistics during the regular season.
The junior quarterback hasn’t produced any eye-catching stats in 2023, but he has been incredibly effective through the air once more. As a matter of fact, McCarthy leads the Big Ten Conference in efficiency (170.3) and is ranked second nationally in completion percentage (.742). In addition, he has thrown 19 touchdowns this season—good for fourth in the conference—against just four interceptions.
McCarthy was unquestionably the best quarterback in the conference this season, which is why he was recently voted first-team All-Big Ten by both coaches and media, along with being named Big Ten Quarterback of the Year.
leads Michigan in passing yards (1,028), rush touchdowns (24) and attempts (218). Blake Corum has been among the Big Ten’s best running backs this season once more. With 1,028 rushing yards, he currently leads the conference, and his 24 rushing touchdowns set a new record for the Wolverines this season. Even more remarkable is the fact
that Corum is the only FBS player who has scored a touchdown in each and every game of the 2023 season. Just one more touchdown will separate the two-time Big Ten Running Back of the Year from former U-M running back Anthony “A-Train” Thomas as the all-time leader in career rushing touchdowns.
