At the start of the transfer portal cycle, the South Carolina Gamecocks were in dire need of pass-catchers because five scholarship receivers had already entered the portal and three wideouts had used up all of their eligibility. Wide receiver Jared Brown of Coastal Carolina was one of the elite prospects that Shane Beamer and his coaching staff hosted over the weekend.

It appears that the opportunity to start right away in an SEC offense was too good to refuse, as Brown declared his commitment to the Gamecocks on Monday afternoon.
Over the course of the previous two seasons in Conway, Jared established himself as one of the top wide receivers in the Group of 5. He amassed 1,534 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns on 108 passes, as well as 439 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 35 carries in the ground game. For his play in 2022, Brown was named a Freshman All-American by College Football News and the Football Writers Association of America.
