After missing the postseason in 2022, the Green Bay Packers are 6-6 and have put themselves in a position to qualify for the NFL Playoffs. With five games left, they still have a lot of work to do, but it’s impressive that they’ve come this far after going 2-5 at one point.
The Packers dropped to 3-6 following their loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, which sparked the unlikely run. Cornerback Jaire Alexander was questioned about his concerns regarding the Packers’ season’s future following the defeat. At the time, his response was hilariously self-assured. He said he was not concerned because Green Bay would prevail.
At the time, he was dismissed as ridiculous. After all, the Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs were the teams that Green Bay faced in their next three games. The Packers ended up winning all three of those games, and they now have a very favorable remaining schedule. In fact, there’s a good chance they win the remaining five games, fulfilling Alexander’s prediction.
Alexander’s motivational, yet flamboyant, interview with reporters following practice on Friday made him the talk of Packers social media throughout the weekend. He discussed the state of his injured shoulder and referred to himself as a prophet during that interview. To put it succinctly, the injury was nearly as severe as the one that kept him out of the NFL in 2021. Alexander is not sure if he will be able to play on Monday night and has been listed as questionable.
Former Packers running back Gary Ellerson expressed dissatisfaction with Alexander’s interview appearance, as previously reported here. Ellerson made the case that Alexander ought to be cut during his appearance on “The Homer Hour” on ESPN Radio in Milwaukee. Alexander has demonstrated his desire to no longer play for the Packers. Moreover, Ellerson contended that since both David Bakhtiari and left tackle are “bad” for the younger players on the team, Bakhtiari should be cut as well.
