In the last five weeks of the 2023 season, former kicker Mason Crosby of the Green Bay Packers will have the opportunity to boot a ball for a team that is in the running for the playoffs. Crosby is joining the Los Angeles Rams practice squad, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Crosby is expected to be added to the Rams active roster shortly, according to Garafolo.

Crosby, who turned 39 in

Crosby, who turned 39 in September, played 16 NFL seasons (2007–22) for the Packers. He is the team’s all-time leader in the majority of significant kicking categories, including points and field goals made, and he won a Super Bowl with the team. After the 2022 season, he was not re-signed as a free agent, and the Packers selected Anders Carlson in the sixth round of the 2023 draft.

Crosby participated in a kicker workout group that the Rams had earlier in the season.

The only kicker on the Rams’ roster is first-year Arizona native Lucas Havrisik. The team is 6-6 and in the running with the Packers for a postseason berth. In the last four games, including back-to-back ones, he has missed three field goals. This season, Havrisik is 10-of-11 on extra points and 7-of-10 on field goals overall.
