Von Miller’s situation with the team was updated by Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane during a Wednesday morning press conference.

According to Beane, the Bills organization was notified last Thursday that Von Miller had an arrest warrant out for him due to allegations of domestic abuse. Miller was freed after posting bond after turning himself in to the Dallas Glenn Heights Police Department.

Miller has not been officially charged, and he is back in Buffalo as the team gets ready for Week 14 against the Chiefs.

There’s not much I can discuss. Von has come to join the team,” Beane remarked. “We’ll let the investigation and we’ll follow the lead of the NFL from that standpoint.”

According to Beane, the Bills believe Miller will be available to play against the Chiefs on Sunday and do not anticipate him being placed on the Commissioner-Exempt list. The general manager described the communication protocol for these kinds of circumstances and the extent of the league’s involvement in determining Miller’s future with the team.

“If you’ve had a player that’s been arrested or something that had an incident, or a staff, anyone, you have to report it to the league, and then there’s a policy in place there depending on what it is,” Beane said. “(The NFL) obviously put their people on top of it and then communicate back to us the course of action.”

The team is comfortable with Miller going back to Buffalo to continue as a member of the team going forward, based on the feedback Beane has received from the NFL since last week.

“Listen, no matter what organization you work for, you never want someone to make such an accusation against you. That’s something of a very serious nature, and we will definitely take all necessary precautions with it, Beane stated. “Character, culture, and all those things are really important. However, we must also keep in mind that we must allow the legal system to conclude. That seems strange coming from the guy we’ve known here for a year and a half.”

Based on their talks with the league office, the Bills do not currently anticipate that Miller will face any charges.

“We’re in constant communication with them and they would let us know, but my most recent conversation, that was not anticipated,” Beane explained.

Beane clarified that the organization would take appropriate action in the event that any additional information from the investigation surfaced.

“We’ll take their lead and allow them to carry out their duties. And we’ll consider the information; really, Terry Pegula, Sean McDermott, and I are merely attempting to do what is right,” he stated.
