INDIA PARK — The Michigan football team encountered numerous issues during their Big Ten Championship game against the formidable Iowa squad. That is, it was unable to run the ball.

Nevertheless, the Wolverines prevailed because of an outstanding defensive effort that saw the blue and maize commit three mistakes. After a few possessions, the offense faltered, but Michigan was still able to defeat the Hawkeyes, 26-0.

Head coach Kirk Ferentz spoke extensively about the game, the reasons behind the Wolverines’ superiority, and what Iowa needs to do to compete with a team like the maize and blue after the game. What he said following the game is all listed here.

I was reminded by someone that I began in this role 25 years ago, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have that fact. We’ve had a lot of really good teams over that time, and I’ve had the honor of working with a lot of exceptional players. I appreciate that a lot of those guys were here tonight.

However, this group we’ve worked with this year is on par with our best to date. Undoubtedly one of the best groups we’ve ever had. Many outstanding players, including Jay and several other guys in that changing area. acquired excellent leadership, achieved significant advancements, and remained unified.

It’s clear that this wasn’t our night. We were aware that we had to play almost perfect basketball when we arrived here. did not, of course, do that. did a poor job of securing the football and in a few other instances.

However, this evening was disappointing. That, in my opinion, does not diminish the work that this group has been doing for the past ten or eleven months.

glad to have a role in it. I’m proud of the work they put in tonight and proud to be their coach. We’ll return to Iowa City, take a few days off, refocus, and begin planning how to win our upcoming football game.
