The former Wales international, who is presently on loan at Salford City in League Two, will be free to depart permanently when the transfer window reopens, according to Ian Evatt.

John’s current contract expires next month, but the Bolton manager has no intention of bringing the 28-year-old back into the fold despite having access to Randell Williams, Jack Iredale, and Zac Ashworth.

His contract expires in January, so we’re not sure if that will be a permanent transfer to allow him to find a new place to live, a loan move, or whether Salford, who has expressed interest in keeping him, will handle things.

Declan’s situation has not changed, and he must now go play football somewhere else. The team is extremely strong, especially when everyone is in good health. We appreciate his hard work and effort, and we have no plans to fire him. He’s not a part of that at the moment.

We know he is a talented player because of the positive reports I’ve heard and the few games I’ve watched about him. It’s wonderful to see him succeeding at Salford. We want him to leave, be content, play a lot of football, and locate a new place to live.

This season, John has made 14 appearances for Salford, who are presently ranked 18th in League Two under Neil Wood.

After initially joining on loan from Swansea City, the former Rangers and Cardiff City defender played 92 games for Wanderers and was a key player in the team’s late push for automatic promotion in 2020–21. He scored eight goals overall across all competitions.

In League One, ohn started the season as the starting pitcher and participated in the Papa Johns Trophy final victory over Plymouth Argyle in April. But even though he continued to be well-liked by many Bolton fans, he progressively lost prominence in the team.

Evatt recognized the contribution John made during his debut season, when he ignited a scorching run of form with players like Ben Jackson, MJ Williams, Kieran Lee, and Dapo Afolayan.

The manager remarked, “I have nothing but positive things to say about him. He has been amazing for this football team and he has been a big part of my journey, a big part of the club’s journey.

However, in football, things happen and things change over time. As a team, we have grown, so we will wish him well no matter what.

With Carlos Mendes Gomes representing Guinea Bissau at the African Cup of Nations and Australia possibly recalling Gethin Jones and Jack Iredale for the Asia Cup in Qatar, Wanderers may lose three players in January to international competitions.
