Regarding quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s ankle injury sustained during Monday night’s 34-31 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the Jacksonville Jaguars have received encouraging news.
Lawrence sustained a right high-ankle sprain, according to Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson, who also told reporters that all other tests on the injury were negative.
“Everything appears good and is stable. In a few days, we’ll see how he is,” Pederson stated.
Regarding the quarterback’s availability for the Week 14 game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, Pederson said he wouldn’t rule out Lawrence.
“I’m not going to put that timetable on Trevor,” he declared, going on to say that he didn’t believe the talented quarterback would require surgery.
“Clearly, it’s beneficial to give C.J. a full week of preparation,” Pederson stated on Tuesday. Trevor will maintain his mental acuity and assess his current state. this week, to give C.J. the opportunity to lead the offense with Luke Fortner. It will benefit C.J. with the center, quarterback stuff, and working with the running backs. C.J., in my opinion, filled in admirably otherwise.”
The unfortunate Jaguars injury news now. Following the Jaguars’ opening offensive play, Christian Kirk was carted off the field due to an injury to his core muscle, which Pederson said would “obviously miss some time.” Later, the coach said that surgery is probably in order.
Kirk’s return to the Jags this season would require the team to make a deep playoff run, as NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport pointed out that the average recovery period following a core muscle surgery is eight weeks.
After losing on Monday, the Jaguars fell to 8-4 and the AFC’s fourth seed, despite still having a one-game advantage over the Colts and Texans in the division. For Pederson’s team to maintain their lead through December, they will need to combat the injury bug.
