They were able to tie the game thanks to the run game of the New Orleans Saints. The Saints, helped in part by Alvin Kamara and Taysom Hill, were able to close the gap to three points after trailing 21-0 in the first quarter. Hill and
Kamara combined for over 100 yards and three touchdowns as the Saints tried to get back into the game. It was a nice effort by the Saints on the ground this week, but the Detroit Lions were able to do just enough to hold on to the win and keep the Saints at bay.

The Saints were already behind 21-0 when they executed their fifth offensive play after Derek Carr’s interception, a 3-and-out, and three defensive blunders that prevented Detroit from reaching the end zone doomed the team from the beginning. On the opening play of the game, Carr threw an interception after missing a wide-open A.T. Perry. The Saints are losing games in part because of his persistently subpar performance. Though he isn’t the
only one, it is undeniably not helping.Although the coaching staff is not doing him any favors, we require accountability from all parties in circumstances such as these. Despite outscoring the Lions 28-12 in the final three quarters, the Saints were unable to overcome the hole that Carr and the coaching staff had dug in the first quarter, and it now appears that they will not have a chance to make the playoffs.
