Pittsburgh — Hours after the clock struck zero, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ ugly game took a turn for the worse when word spread that former Pitt Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett had suffered a serious ankle injury in the first half that could keep him out for several weeks.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the current starter for the Steelers and former Pitt star will miss two to four weeks due to an ankle injury. He is anticipated to have surgery the day after Arizona’s defeat in order to fix his injured ankle.

Before leaving the game, Pickett had completed seven of ten passes for 70 yards, with no touchdowns and no interceptions. Without their QB1 available, the Steelers will turn to backup Mitch Trubisky, who replaced Pickett as the starter against Arizona and completed 11 of 17 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.

Although Pickett has now missed five games in his two-year career due to injury, he will be missing his first full game if he is unable to play on Thursday night when the New England Patriots visit Acrisure Stadium.
