In preparation for their Sunday game against the Detroit Lions, the New Orleans Saints have promoted wide receiver Marquez Callaway and fullback Adam Prentice from the practice squad to the active roster (standard elevations), as Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced on Saturday.

At 6 feet 2 inches and 204 pounds, Callaway was originally signed by the Saints in 2020 as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee. During his time with New Orleans, he started 17 games during the regular season (2020–2022) and finished with 83 receptions for 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns. He also returned 14 punts for 149 yards on average and four kickoff returns for 94 yards.

In 11 games with three starts, Callaway earned a spot on the roster by catching 21 passes for 213 yards, returning 11 punts for 122 yards (11.1 average), and returning four kickoffs for 94 yards. With 46 receptions for 698 yards (15.2 avg.) and six touchdowns in 2021, he led New Orleans in receiving yards and touchdown grabs. The Warner Robins, Georgia, native spent the first six weeks of the 2023 season on the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad after attending training camp with the Denver Broncos. On November 21, he signed with the Saints practice squad.

With 92 receptions for 1,646 yards and 13 touchdowns, Callaway finished his collegiate career as one of the Volunteers’ most effective punt returners and productive pass-catchers. With three punt return touchdowns (second all-time) and a 13.6 punt return average (fourth in school history), he left Knoxville. He was named an All-SEC second-team return specialist as a senior, having gained 154 yards and a touchdown of 65 yards on 11 punt returns (14.0 avg.) and hauled in 30 passes for 635 yards and six scores.

Prentice, 6-0 and 245 pounds, was selected by Denver as a free agent out of South Carolina after the 2021 NFL Draft. He played for the Broncos during the preseason before being selected by the Saints off waivers at the beginning of the regular season. Prentice has participated in 25 games over the last three seasons, starting six of them. He has gained 19 yards on the ground eight times, caught six passes for 25 yards, and made five special teams tackles. The native of Clovis, California, has participated in seven games with one start in 2023, carrying the ball once for five yards and making one special teams tackle. He has also played in six games with one start.
