Before playing again in the 1-0 loss to Bolton Wanderers earlier this month, the 31-year-old missed several weeks due to a neck injury. During the match at the Toughsheet Community Stadium, the midfielder took a knock to the ribs, which has kept him out of action ever since.

In response to a question about Norburn’s most recent injury, Blackpool manager Neil Critchley stated: “On Tuesday, he participated in a training group.

“He’s making his way back to the grass slowly. In the coming days, we’ll keep an eye on him and see how he’s doing. We’ll check in to see if he feels satisfied with his work.

Since it concerns his ribs, pain management is a challenging issue. It’s a difficult situation to handle. It only takes a small knock to cause excruciating pain.

“Since Norbs consistently offers himself to play, we’ll need to have that discussion in the coming days and proceed from there.

“It has been extremely annoying. After being out for several weeks, he returned to play against Bolton and did not disappoint, although he was badly hurt in the first half. He’s been suffering greatly.

“On the field, you miss those leaders and your captain. We’ll be happy to have him back, and he’ll be itching to get back.

“Matty Virtue and Jordan Gabriel are both in training; the only players out of action right now are Shayne Lavery and Kylian Couassi.”
