According to 90min, Everton has long admired Adam Wharton, a midfielder for Blackburn Rovers, and wants to sign him.
The news source said on Tuesday, November 28th, that Tottenham has been monitoring the 19-year-old’s progress this year with a “close eye.”
It further stated that Brighton, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle United are also in the running to sign the England U-20 international, calling him “one of the best” young players in the Championship.
If Everton hopes to try and bring Wharton to Goodison Park when the transfer window opens, they appear to be up against some very fierce competition.
There are many teams interested in the midfield player, and some of them think he has a better chance of succeeding there than he does with the Toffees.
But the club are making more of a conscious effort to give young players a chance after they were linked with several emerging talents during the summer transfer window.
The Englishman has already made 39 appearances for Blackburn, making 17 of those appearances this season after securing a spot in the starting lineup.
The Blues’ ability to seriously pursue a signing with him will primarily depend on their financial status and standing in the Premier League at the start of the transfer window.
