Greg Leigh, Oxford United’s full-back, is expected to miss their League One matchup with Wanderers.
Leigh sustained a calf injury during his Jamaican international duty, which prevented him from playing in the team’s 2-0 loss at Cheltenham Town over the weekend.
The 29-year-old, who came to the U’s from Ipswich during the summer, has played in 13 games thus far this year.
Head coach Des Buckingham told The Oxford Mail, “It was a late change with Greg because he only reported back from the Canada game on Thursday.”
He has a calf injury, and we are currently determining its severity. It’s highly unlikely that he will be free on Tuesday.
In addition, Ruben Rodrigues has been suspended since he was dismissed from the team of Darrell Clarke for a second bookable offense.
But Kyle Edwards, who had been sidelined due to a hamstring problem, made a comeback against the Robins. For the last twenty-five minutes, he replaced Fin Stevens at Whaddon Road by coming off the bench.
Edwards and Josh Murphy, who came on as a substitute in the second half, had a good effect.
“Murph made his debut at the beginning of the second half, making an immediate impression and creating two or three excellent opportunities in the opening five minutes.
“Kyle hasn’t been in for a long, so it was nice to spend some time with him.” Everyone in this league has seen his quality, so if we can get some playing time with him now, he will be a very important player for us.
After taking over in the Oxford dugout after Liam Manning left to join Bristol City in the Championship, it was Buckingham’s first loss in that role.
The 38-year-old played for Oxford at youth level and joined the coaching staff aged 18, working his way up to first-team coach under Chris Wilder.
Before coming back to English football to take the helm at Kassam Stadium, he had positions at Stoke City, Wellington Phoenix, and Indian Super League team Mumbai City.
