Neemias Queta received his first extended stretch of the season from the Boston Celtics on November 26 against the Atlanta Hawks. Queta finished with seven points and ten rebounds in fifteen minutes of play, six of which came from the offensive end.
Queta discussed how his ability to grab offensive rebounds contributes to his ability to help the Celtics after the game.Being an offensive rebounder and having the ability to crash or draw a second defender to you on the offensive glass, I believe that’s a little bit of what I bring to the table, Queta said to reporters, as reported by CLNS Media Boston Sports Network. It seems like one of those things where I can help. We all emphasize crashing with all these guys. Thus, things are going really well for us. We wish to continue.
Queta might have a genuine chance to demonstrate his worth to the Celtics during the next week or so while Kristaps Porzingis is out. Queta is currently on a two-way contract, but if he shows he can be a valuable player, he may be able to move up to the Celtics’ roster where there is an open spot.
Jayson Tatum called Neemias Queta out when he was questioned about his influence. Queta was one of the select few players that Tatum mentioned as being ready for when the Celtics call their name.
Tatum stated, “Just the energy that he brought off the bench was big for us tonight,” according to the Celtics on NBC Sports Boston’s X account. “Those guys deserve a lot of credit from me. the group that stays prepared. They labored tirelessly, and as they say, it’s difficult to predict when your number will be called. All you can do is be ready for it when it does, and tonight he contributed to our team’s victory.
The other Celtic who fits in the category was Dalano Banton, who got his first start of the season filling in for Jrue Holiday. Queta and Banton have played 9 games combined in the Celtics’ 17 games into the 2023-24 season. Boston’s rotation may not consistently feature them going forward, but they proved their worth for an undermanned Celtics team.
