With a foot injury, Desmond Bane was originally listed as doubtful tonight but was eventually listed as available; however, it turned out that he played through the injury.
Against the Phoenix Suns tonight, Bane had a terrible game, scoring just 6 points on 3/12 from the field and 0/5 from three. It was brutal; in 34 minutes of basketball, he committed as many turnovers as made baskets.
Naturally, I’m not 100%, but that’s not an acceptable reason,” Bane told the press. “I wasn’t at my best today; you go out there on the floor and your job is to perform and be at your best.”
Bane intends to play every game he can for the Grizzlies despite his injury. However, he needs to be explosive around the rim in order to succeed in his game, so if he can’t, he’s going to have a very difficult evening.
To the media, Bane declared, “That’s my MO, period.” “I’m going to play every time if I can.”
The Grizzlies’ next opponent is the scorching Minnesota Timberwolves. The Grizzlies only have two basketball games in the next five days—against the Timberwolves and Jazz—thanks to some time off between games. The Grizzlies shouldn’t be favored in either of those games, but maybe Desmond Bane will be well enough to play by then.
