McKinstry has served as the Crimson Tide’s starting punt returner for most of the season. Unfortunately for Alabama, he has had trouble with fielding the football at times. He muffed a punt in Alabama’s win over Chattanooga and was replaced by Caleb Downs. The freshman went on to return a punt 85 yards for a touchdown in the game.

McKinstry was questioned by a reporter regarding the adjustment on Tuesday during Alabama’s player media availability.
“I’m here to support the team,” McKinstry declared. “I would come forward whenever my number is called. This past weekend, Caleb performed admirably. He seemed to have stepped up to the plate, performed admirably in both scoring the touchdown and going out there to make sure he performed well for the team. I’ll be ready when my number is called, then.
The native of Alabama is still regarded as one of the top cornerbacks in college football. On Saturday in Auburn, he will have the chance to make his mark at the Iron Bowl.
