This marks the first time a Packer quarterback has thrown for more than 300 yards since December 12, 2021, when Aaron Rodgers had a 341-yard day against the Chicago Bears.

(AP) — GREEN BAY, WI As Green Bay was down to just one healthy running back, Jordan Love realized that his right arm was probably where the Packers’ hopes lay.

The starting quarterback in his first year of play answered with the finest game of his early career.

With 2:33 remaining on Sunday, Love completed a 322 yard pass and found Romeo Doubs for a 24-yard touchdown, giving Green Bay a 23-20 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. For a young Packers team that had consistently fallen short in the closing moments of games this season, it was a historic comeback.

Just the past experiences we’ve had together, being in this circumstance and not making the most of it, is something that’s always on my mind, Love said. “All we said was, ‘Go finish.'” Go forth and compete. And proceed to excel. We probably accomplished that.

Love completed 27 of 40 passes to become the first Packer to throw for over 300 yards since December 12, 2021, when Aaron Rodgers had a 341-yard day against the Chicago Bears.

“I had no idea about that,” Love remarked. “To be honest, that’s a pretty crazy stat.”

In close games, both teams have struggled.

A total of 11 points have separated the teams in four of the Packers’ six losses. The Chargers have lost six games with a combined margin of fourteen points.

Derwin James, a safety for the Chargers, said, “It’s hard, bro.” We’re playing hard, as I mentioned. Hard work. We’re only a play or two away. I contend that you must figure out a way to complete it.

When questioned again following the game about whether he had thought of giving up the defensive play-calling duties, Chargers coach Brandon Staley became irate.

“I am completely confident in our style of play,” Staley declared. “Total faith in my abilities as the play-caller, our methods of instruction, and our planning process. Complete trust in that. That’s where it’s at—we need to get this group together and do it consistently. You’re free to stop posing that query. To be clear, I will be calling the defenses. So, you won’t need to ask that query once more.

There were serious injuries to both teams.

During the first series of the game, Chargers edge rusher Joey Bosa was carted off the field due to a foot injury. AJ Dillon was the only ball carrier for Green Bay after running backs Aaron Jones and Emanuel Wilson were carted off the field late in the second quarter
