The red card that AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud received during Saturday afternoon’s 2-2 draw with Lecce has resulted in a two-match suspension.
The French striker will not be available for selection when Milan returns from the international break, as confirmed by Serie A.
He will miss two games: the first on November 25 against Fiorentina and the second on December 2 against Frosinone.
In the 93rd minute of the match against Lecce, with the score tied at 2, Giroud was given a yellow card. However, the referee quickly showed a second yellow card to him after deciding that his protests were excessive.
After the game, Giroud did apologize to the referee, and the rules allowed for a four-match suspension.
Rather, it will only be two games, which is consistent with other comparable events from earlier in the season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan), Milan is actively looking for a striker, with Jonathan David and Akor Adams becoming well-known players in Ligue 1.
Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart is another player who is being mentioned. In just 10 games between the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal, the French-Guinean has 16 goals and 2 assists.
Milan may find his €17 million release clause alluring, but since Stuttgart is presently in the Champions League, it is unlikely that he will want to leave in January.
In addition, Guirassy is reportedly the preferred destination of the Premier League, which is showing interest in him. Milan is still in the running, but there are indications that it won’t happen.
