Much-changed Liverpool suffered an unexpected 3-2 loss away to Toulouse in France, with VAR grabbing headlines once more after Jarell Quansah’s controversial first-career goal was disallowed. Jurgen Klopp is worried about Liverpool’s performance because he wants to lead the Reds to success in Europe.

It also demonstrated Liverpool’s need for more depth in the defensive midfield position within the squad, as Klopp’s group found it difficult to contain Toulouse’s attack even with 72% of the ball. With Fluminense star Andre making headlines, it is widely reported that the Reds are interested in acquiring a midfield player during the January transfer window. However, Manchester City’s defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips is another name that has gained attention reently

Th  England international has had difficulty playing for the first team during the past 16 months, but TalkSport sources indicate Liverpool is keeping a close eye on him. Reds legend Mark Lawrenson believes that Phillips’ arrival could help Liverpool replace both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson while also freeing up players like Alexis Mac Allister to play in a more advanced role

Lawrenson clarified to Paddy Power, saying, “I would like to see Kalvin Phillips come in if Liverpool are going to sign a six to free up Alexis MacAllister.” Although he hasn’t played much football in the past two seasons, he would be ideal for Liverpool. I’m not sure if Manchester City would sell him. He would most likely be sold, but not to Liverpool.

The thing about MacAllister is that he was asked to play a different role when he arrived at Liverpool, and he just carried it out. He has been reliable, but one issue has been the appearance of Ryan Gravenberch as a legitimate player since his arrival. He advances from midfield, and Dominik Szoboszlai is well-known to us due to his exceptional play

“MacAllister has been a little unfortunate because he has to be the holding player, but he has performed satisfactorily overall. To be honest, it says something about his character that he hasn’t approached the manager and told him, “I don’t really want to play there.” Instead, he has simply carried on.
