After defeating the New York Jets to get back to.500, the Los Angeles Chargers are ready to take on the Detroit Lions in Week 10.

With just 461 total yards of offense from both teams on Monday night, offense was definitely not what was on

 

display. Despite the appalling offenses, the Bolts were fortunate to muster enough wins. It’s important to focus on the victory, but it’s also fair to note how awful Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert played on Monday night.

Week 9 saw one of Herbert’s worst games of the season, and the outcry was so intense that Shannon Sharpe, an ESPN analyst and football Hall of Famer, even went so far as to say he wasn’t sold on the Pro Bowl quarterback.

With a QBR of 41.1, Herbert completed 16 of 30 passes for 136 yards, zero touchdowns, five sacks, and an unmemorable performance. To his credit, he played against the Jets defense, who have embarrassed a lot of elite quarterbacks this season, despite the fact that it was a completely terrible performance.

Even so, we haven’t seen the slightest hint of the 25-year-old quarterback who was paid to lead the team and elevate LA through eight games. You have to play like a QB1 when you get paid like one. Granted, this was Herbert’s first game without a touchdown pass, and the Jets defense has rendered even the best quarterbacks appear unimpressive, but those

He needs to live up to the expectations set by the team, the organization, the media, and the supporters. We’ll play a formidable Lions team next week, and he’ll have another chance to prove to the pundits that he is the Bolts’ best player.
