If Pierce Charles, the goalkeeper for Sheffield Wednesday, keeps up his good work this season, he may get the opportunity to make his debut. Danny Rohl, the new head coach, has been complimenting the young player on his abilities.

One of Hillsborough’s rising talents is the custodian. Xisco Munoz used him in several friendly matches during the preseason, splitting time with Cameron Dawson.

This season, Charles has been a regular starter for Wednesday’s under-21 squad. Rohl now seems to be expressing his admiration for what he has observed from the trainee kid.

At one point, Rohl alludes to Charles’s debut.
Wednesday needs to do a better job of providing a first-team opportunity for their homegrown players. There is so much talent in the academy ranks; it’s time they were put to use.

The team may have a manager in Rohl who is more inclined to give the team’s younger players an opportunity. A recent conversation focused on Charles, and it’s possible that this season will mark his debut.

“He’s very good on the grass,” the head coach said to The Star. I like that he is a multi-solutionist and that he can play football. He has put in a lot of training with the first team, and if he continues to put in the work, he might have an opportunity to play.

It’s a challenge, but right now I’m really pleased with both of the goalkeepers that are here. We should be concerned about the strength of the goalkeeping group, in my opinion.

There’s no doubt that the gifted youngster will have an opportunity to shine at Wednesday at some point. But for the time being, he might have to wait patiently because of Wednesday’s current situation.

However, time is on his side. For the time being, he needs to concentrate on working out hard every day and playing at a high level for the under-21 team.

Devis Vasquez and Cameron Dawson are two respectable goalkeepers that Charles works with on a daily basis. That will only serve him well and help mold him for the future.
