With offensive tackle Trent Brown sidelined for Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders, it could be yet another uphill offensive battle for the New England Patriots.

For the Patriots’ offensive line, injuries have made the 2023 season seem like an endless game of musical chairs. They have been starting veteran guard Mike Onwenu at right tackle since they are sorely lacking in personnel at the tackle position.

The offensive line has become unstable as a result of the front-running quarterback Mac Jones and frequent player rotations, which has caused numerous issues for the run game.

A significant plot point is the return to inactivity of rookie wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, given that coach Bill Belichick had been praising him earlier in the week. Boutte is still having difficulty getting playing time on the field, despite the absence of Kendrick Bourne and DAlthough the Commanders dealt away Chase Young and Montez Sweat prior to the trade deadline, the Patriots may still have enough holes in their offensive line with Brown sidelined to cause serious problems for Jones and co.
