Wide receiver Jameson Williams is being brought along by the Detroit Lions gradually.

Sadly, not as much of the offense features the quick wide receiver as many would want. His inexperience, drops, and poor relationship with Jared Goff have all had an effect on how his 2023 season has begun.

In an interview with the Detroit Lions Podcast, former wide receiver Herman Moore dis

d how the organization may better use the former No. 12 overall pick to boost his confidence and get more performance out of him.

“Though it wouldn’t happen overnight, I believe it could be done very carefully. If I were in his position, I would involve him in it. He would be moved to the slot by me. I would accept him as he is. Moore remarked, “He’s too easy to defend as an outsider. Take him to the slot once in a while. He won’t, in my opinion, find his calling. He and St. Brown together will be an effective one-on-one opponent if you line them up in the slots, run split sets, have two receiver sets on each side, and mirror your routes.”

From 1991 to 2001, Moore was a member of the Lions. He concluded his playing career with the New York Giants.

“I think he needs to get shorter routes, where you’re getting the ball in his hands really quickly,” said Moore. “Amon-Ra St. Brown, for example, identifies gaps in the zones. You’re urging him to break out of his shell and stop being so flat on big routes and huge plays. That is the lowest possible completion percentage. You’re going to keep undermining his confidence, not increase it.”

The coaching staff in Detroit stated that one of their objectives for the gifted wideout this season is to be able to perform the position’s fundamentals on a regular basis.

Like many others, Moore has observed that Williams’ confidence has suffered since the team is not using him the way Alabama did

Place the ball in his hands and let him to make some open moves, just as he did during his time in college. Additionally, he will gain some experience with catches. He must make contact with the ball, added Moore. “He will attack if you won’t allow him to touch the ball and participate in a one-on-one match or if you have really fast routes that allow him to enter and exit cuts.

“I tell you, I can see where he lacks confidence, which is why I’m saying that. It’s terrible if his confidence will only increase on deep passes and scores,” Moore went on. “He is not that person. Treating him the same way I would a St. Brown would be my current course of action. Based on St. Brown’s effectiveness, I believe you could obtain another player who is just as talented, faster, and capable of making those kinds of plays. I’d be curious to see what might result from combining those two things.”
