A former standout player for the Philadelphia Eagles is joining the Buffalo Bills in anticipation of a postseason push.

The Buffalo News’ Mark Gaughan reported that defensive tackle Linval Joseph is being signed by the Bills. Joseph signed with the Eagles in November of last year in preparation for their Super Bowl run. He is a former two-time Pro Bowl player.

According to Gaughan, “the Bills obviously decided they needed more supplementing.” “On Thursday, the team signed Linval Joseph, a 6-foot-4, 328-pound free agent with 179 games played over 13 NFL seasons.”

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the contract may be valued up to $3.72 million this year.

“Source says it’s a one-year deal worth up to $3.72 million for newly signed #Bills DT Linval Joseph,” writes Garafolo.

Linval Joseph began playing during the Eagles’ 2017 Super Bowl run.
With the Eagles last season, the 35-year-old started all eight of his games during the regular season and three of the postseason.

The goal, according to the seasoned defensive tackle, is to make it to the Super Bowl two years in a row.

“That’s the objective,” Joseph stated following the Bills’ Thursday, November 2 practice. It is the aspiration. So let’s finish it.

Joseph gave an explanation for his decision to commit to the Bills for the 2023 season.

He began, “This team is special, first and foremost.” “The guys are special, and the locker room is special.” Even though I’ve only been here for the last 24 hours—after leaving the meeting—I feel like I’ve been here for the entire season. I know quite a few of the players, coaches, and guys on the squad. Being reunited is pleasant. This morning when I arrived, I was eating breakfast and we were all seated together. I adore it.

Last season, Joseph played 38% of the defensive snaps and recorded 20 tackles. Pro Football Focus reports that the 13-year veteran finished the previous season with a run defense grade of 59.9 and a defensive grade of 58.9.

According to Gaughan, Bills head coach Sean McDermott described Joseph as a “veteran, experienced player that’s from the reports we’ve gotten a high-character leader” upon his signing. “He is undoubtedly a big man and has played a lot of football.” It matters where the line of scrimmage is.

Joseph has made 179 appearances in his career, starting 170 of them. He has also recorded 664 tackles, 25.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, and five fumble recoveries. In addition to winning a Super Bowl with the New York Giants at the end of the 2011 season, he made two trips to the Pro Bowl while playing for the Minnesota Vikings in 2016 and 2017. Joseph played with the Los Angeles Chargers for two seasons as well.

The Eagles are aware that they have complete control over their fate as the NFC’s top seed as they get ready to meet their fiercest rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, in Week 9.

The Cowboys are just as invested in the game as Philadelphia is, despite Philadelphia’s apparent importance. With a win, they would hold the tiebreaker over the Eagles and move within a half-game of them at 5-2.

“Well, this will be a good measuring stick,” I overheard someone say. This isn’t the time for measuring sticks,” Jones added. There comes a moment when one must give up measuring and focus solely on trying to win. because the victory itself is so significant. This is the ultimate goal for which you should strive towards. It’s comparable to the playoffs.
