Now that the Kansas City Chiefs and head coach Andy Reid have addressed the media on Friday, the team’s stay in Germany is officially underway. After practice, the team has also made available its weekly injury report

QB Patrick Mahomes participated fully in practice for the third day in a row on Sunday, even though he was still dealing with a left-hand injury from last Sunday’s game. The good news is that. Conversely, wide receiver Richie James and linebacker Willie Gay Jr.’s availability is uncertain, and running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is officially ruled out due to illness. The following three players will all be wearing designations when they play the Miami Dolphins in Week 9:

Gay, one of the Chiefs’ top linebackers in the rotation, suffered a tailbone injury during Week 8’s loss to the Denver Broncos. Reid revealed earlier this week that the fourth-year man would likely avoid going on the injured reserve list, and his limited participation in Thursday and Friday’s practices marked good signs for Kansas City. Despite that, the club still isn’t sure whether he’ll play on Sunday. Here’s what Reid had to say on Friday:

Just let’s see how Sunday goes. Willie is getting better. He made some progress today and was able to accomplish several things.”

James, who was thought to be a trade candidate close to the deadline, decided to stay with the organization and now has a 21-day window for practices to begin this week. Should he return to the starting lineup against Miami, the veteran wide receiver and return guy will need to be officially reinstated off of injured reserve (IR). This has not yet been done. James was active in Weeks 1 and 2, but he hasn’t played since because of a knee injury.

Anticipate that the team will deliberate over these two injury decisions for a while before reaching a decision over the weekend. Gay’s condition is a little uncertain because he has just had two days of practice. James participated fully in practice this week, which gave him additional hope for his particular perspective in Week 9. There will definitely be more information available by Sunday morning (early Sunday afternoon, for those in Germany).
