Salford Red Devils have revealed that Ethan Ryan, a former Hull KR back, has signed with them. The 27-year-old signed a three-year contract and will now try his luck in Greater Manchester after playing for East Hull for the previous four seasons.
Ryan, an Ireland international, played 42 games for the Robins and scored 22 tries during that time. In addition to giving Salford another reliable outside-back option, he can fill in at full-back when necessary.
Ryan, who made his Bradford Bulls debut in 2016, will team up with Nene Macdonald, the star player from Papua New Guinea, who was also unveiled as a Red Devil earlier this month. The former Robin is eager to establish himself in Paul Rowley’s squad and hopes to bring both effort and confidence to his new team.
“I take great satisfaction in the small things that may go overlooked occasionally,” Ryan remarked. “I can contribute a lot to the attack—try scoring and that kind of thing—because I can play wing and full-back, obviously. However, I believe that you will notice me for just being one percenters and doing whatever small I can to support the team on the field.
“I believe another important one is confidence. I believe many people are confidence players, including myself. My confidence and knowing that the coach is supporting me translate onto the pitch.”I believe that my ability to perform well and feel well is a major factor. Thus, hopefully, I can prove that when I join and start training with the boys.”
