We are happy to announce that Ben Hellewell, a Scotland international, has committed to the Salford Red Devils for another season.

The 31-year-old, who originally joined the team on a two-week loan in 2022, left Featherstone Rovers in 2023 to become a permanent member of the team. He has had a successful season in red and white.

As the season went on, Hellewell, who made 19 appearances and scored four tries, appeared to settle into a regular role on the squad.

Hellewell has also made 22 appearances for the Scottish national team, including an appearance in the Rugby League World Cup in England last year.

Hellewell expressed his excitement after signing a new contract, saying, “I am thrilled to have signed for another season at this great club.”

This was an obvious choice because I had a great experience here the previous season.

“I had a great experience working here last season, so when the chance to resign arose, I took it without hesitation.

“I’m excited for preseason to begin with the guys, the coaching staff, and the new recruits as we get ready for what I believe will be a fantastic 2024 campaign.

“Winning some silverware for the fans is the goal, especially after everything they’ve done for the club!”

Born in Bradford, Hellewell has represented Scotland in all three of the most recent World Cups. He was not under contract at the time, but he has now committed to the Greater Manchester team through 2024.

Ben Hellewell signs a one-year contract with the Salford Red Devils; the forward aims to win awards in 2024.

Salford is the ninth team for which the 31-year-old has worn a jersey after making his debut in York Knights colors back in 2012.

The forward, who also holds 22 caps for his country, has played for the Featherstone & Salford previously mentioned as well as the London Broncos, Sheffield Eagles, Leigh Leopards (formerly Centurions), Dewsbury Rams, and Barrow Raiders at the club level.

Hellewell has his sights set on the trophy in 2024 after inking his new contract. “I am thrilled to have signed for another season at this great club,” he said on the Salford website.

Paul Rowley, the Red Devils’ chief, praises Ben Hellewell as “very valued.”
Hellewell, who presently has 238 career club appearances, will most certainly surpass the 250-mark next season, if he avoids injuries.
