Tottenham is rumored to be interested in signing left-back Andrea Cambiaso, which means they are planning their third raid on Juventus. Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur were two players the Lilywhites were able to pry from the Italian powerhouses in recent years.
After leaving Genoa for Juventus in the summer of last year, Cambiaso was sent to Bologna on loan right away. He made his way back to Turin in time for the upcoming season, and he has since appeared in nine of his team’s ten Serie A games. Even on Saturday, the 23-year-old scored the game-winning goal in the 96th minute to help Juventus upset Verona 1-0.
Tottenham have predominantly played with four at the back since Ange Postecoglou took over as manager in the summer, with Destiny Udogie often preferred to Ben Davies at left-back. But in Cambiaso, Spurs would have another adroit left sided defender to battle for the starting shirt.
Since Ange Postecoglou became manager in the summer, Tottenham has mainly used a four-man defense, with Destiny Udogie frequently starting at left-back instead of Ben Davies. Spurs would, however, have another skillful left-sided defender to compete with for the starting shirt in Cambiaso.
At the conclusion of the January transfer window in 2022, Tottenham signed Kulusevski and Bentancur, demonstrating their familiarity with Juventus in the transfer market. Bentancur paid £15.9 million plus £5 million in add-ons to join, while Kulusevski came to North London for an initial £8.3 million loan before moving permanently in June for a further £25 million.
Under Postecoglou, Sweden’s 23-year-old winger Kulusevski has made 68 appearances for Tottenham, scoring nine goals and dishing out sixteen assists. Bentancur, a Uruguayan midfielder, has played for Spurs for 45 games and has
six goals and six assists, but he lost eight and a half months of activity due to an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in February.
Last Friday, the 26-year-old made his debut under Postecoglou as he came off the bench to help his team defeat Crystal Palace 2-1. And when Spurs play Chelsea the following Monday, he will be looking for another appearance.
