Callum Wilson started in place of Alexander Isak for Eddie Howe’s Newcastle team, who was defeated 1-0 by Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Magpies have a thin roster as a result of recent injuries to Alexander Isak, Jacob Murphy, Elliot Anderson, and a ban for Sandro Tonali. Sven Botman, Lewis Miley, and Harvey Barnes are also missing. Consequentlyly, Emil Krafth was included in a first-team squad for the first time since August 2022, and Newcastle named a depleted bench.

Due to an ACL injury sustained in the summer of last year, the right-back has missed more than a full football season.

Newcastle enters the match hoping to recover from their Champions League loss and increase their

Newcastle hopes to win this game in order to continue their winning streak in the Premier League to six games and recover from their Champions League loss. However, since Jonas Gutierrez and Demba Ba scored goals in a 2-1 victory in October 2011, United has not triumphed in a top level game at Molineux.

If Howe’s team wins this afternoon, they’ll move up to fifth place until Sunday when Aston Villa plays Luton Town.

Newcastle’s lineup against Wolves is as follows: Pope, Guimaraes, Longstaff, Joelinton, Almiron, Gordon, Wilson; Trippier, Lascelles, Schar, Burn.

Alternatives: Krafth, Hall, Livramento, Willock, Dubravka, Gillespie, Dummett, Ritchie, and Targett

GK: Nick Pope Pope has played in all but one of his previous five Premier League games while keeping a clean sheet. Despite being defeated by Felix Nmecha’s goal in the middle of the week, he managed to pull off an amazing double save to prevent the visitors from scoring first.

Trippier has been sensational this season but will have to be on top form at Molineux. No Premier League player has more assists than Trippier with just Wolves’ Pedro Neto able match his numbers.

CB: Fabian Schar

Schar has had a great season to date and is easily one of the first names on Howe’s team sheet every week.

On Saturday, Lascelles will lead Newcastle against a team he has already scored goals against. Due to Sven Botman’s continued absence, Lascelles, who has scored twice for the Magpies versus Wolves, is expected to be a key player on Saturday.
