For Forest, Wood was the man of the hour. His two goals demonstrated his self-assurance, and it’s good to see he stepped up in Taiwo Awoniyi’s absence.

The Reds may live to regret these missed opportunities. They have gone five games without a victory, dating back to September. In the Premier League, they will now compete against Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham, and Brighton.

Wood stars as Forest capitulate against Luton

This was a game that the Reds had to win. Steve Cooper must accept responsibility for the erroneous triple substitution that looked to sap the momentum that Forest was building in this match.

But Wood was a man who appeared ready to take the challenge. The Reds are keen for him to keep scoring because Divock Origi is now also sidelined for a few weeks due to injury.

Laws and Colin Fray had some positive things to say about Wood when Laws spoke for Forest yesterday. After scoring the first goal, they praised the 31-year-old for his performance.
First to speak, Fray remarked on BBC Radio Nottingham in real time, “He looked confident from the moment he got into position to score.”

Laws concurred and expressed his happiness for the player. He said, “I’m really pleased for Wood because he missed a couple of chances in the first half.”

Fans should lay off Wood – he’s vital at the moment

Since signing, Wood has received a lot of criticism. He was acquired by Forest for £15 million during the January transfer window, coming in after Awoniyi’s extended absence.

Wood wasn’t involved in Forest’s decision to spend that much money on a 31-year-old, and after an injury held him out for the majority of last season, he returned this summer determined to make a statement.

Wood has seemed stronger, more physically fit, and ready to show his fans what he is capable of. With his goals from yesterday, he is now tied with Awoniyi for the season lead with three goals.

It is useless for his supporters to continuously criticise him. He seems like a decent guy, and until Awoniyi recovers from his injury, he is the only attack Forest has at the moment.
