we’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park…

Alan Hutton believes the ball is in Youri Tielemans’ court amid an alleged bust-up with Aston Villa manager Unai Emery over his future at B6.

Tielemans, 26, who signed for the Villans on a four-year contract in the summer after being released by Leicester City, has reportedly told his inner circle that he wants to depart Villa Park in January, according to a Football Insider article from October 11th.

Tielemans has yet to make an appearance for Emery in the Premier League; instead, he has only made appearances in the Carabao Cup loss to Everton, the Europa Conference League loss to Legia Warsaw, and the victories against Hibernian and Zrinjski Mostar in Europe.

The Belgian midfielder’s “future is in doubt” due to his inability to impress, and Hutton thinks Tielemans must first show Emery that he is capable of playing before beginning to see more playing time.

I don’t think it’s too simple to jump on it and say, “He’s not playing, he’s not happy with his minutes, he’s leaving in January,” Hutton said to Villa News of players having disagreements with managers.

“If you aren’t playing, you need to go and prove to the manager that you can handle it.

He has had opportunities, but sadly not all of Aston Villa’s games have gone their way. The performances in the European games haven’t been what Emery would have preferred.aston villa

The “ball is in his court,” I’ll say.

If you can’t walk onto the pitch and perform the task that the manager has requested of you, you won’t be allowed to play. He will play you if and when you do well in practise, put in the necessary effort, and are granted playing time.

“Tielemans will decide.

You may whine about not having enough time all you want, but your duty is to prove to your management that you can handle it.

In other Aston Villa news, thanks to Celtic, there’s excitement the Villans could be about to sign the next “superstar” of football.
