Sheffield Wednesday manager explains Owls and AC Milan player Eagle-eyed’s mysterious absence Sheffield Wednesday fans have noticed that Devis Vasquez has been absent from photographs and videos released since Danny Röhl’s arrival.

The Owls’ new German boss took charge of his first training session on Monday and has been putting his team through their paces this week in preparation for the game against Watford on Saturday, but Vasquez was not seen in any of the club’s content.

Cameron Dawson, Pierce Charles, and Jack Hall were all spotted practicing at Middlewood Road ahead of the trip to Vicarage Road, and some fans were concerned about the Colombian loanee’s whereabouts considering that he was not called up to his national squad during the previous international break.

“He was a little bit ill,” said Wednesday’s supervisor. “But he’s returned now, and everything is fine.” He’ll return to the field tomorrow (Friday).”

Röhl has now clarified that the 25-year-old AC Milan shot-stopper has been feeling ill recently, and while he’ll be back on the training fields shortly, his absence may have influenced who starts on Saturday.

Momo Diaby and Juan Delgado are both injured for Wednesday at the moment, but they are the only known absentees after the likes of Barry Bannan, Josh Windass, Akin Famewo, and Bambo Diaby all returned to training following their respective ailments.

Röhl’s Owls face the Hornets at 3pm on Saturday, looking for their first Championship victory of the season.
