Collingwood has denied “completely untrue” claims made about a pair of its players, claiming an online video that has been circulating does not feature or was shot by a current or past member of the team.

There were allegations that a video that appeared online showed a player engaging in an explicit act with their partner, and that the player’s teammate may have also recorded the video.

The Magpies responded to the accusations on Thursday night. In a statement, CEO Craig Kelly rejected the claims while pointing out that disseminating sexual material without the subject’s consent is a crime.

We are aware of a video that is allegedly of a Collingwood player and their partner and is currently doing the rounds online. The video’s capture has been connected to another former Collingwood player, according to the statement.

“The Club wishes to address the situation to make it clear that both of these claims are wholly false and that NO current or former Collingwood players or their spouses are included in the video that is circulating.

“It is crucial to emphasize that it is illegal for anyone in the public to distribute explicit content without getting everyone’s permission.

“We will continue to support all our players and their families during this time.”

Following their victory over Brisbane in the grand final last month, Collingwood finished the 2023 season as champions.

Speculation that a current and past player was involved in an explicit viral video has been formally refuted by Collingwood.

After the footage was circulated on social media for a few days, the club issued a statement on Thursday night.

It advised followers not to share the video any longer because doing so is illegal.

“We are aware of a video that is allegedly of a Collingwood player and their partner and is currently making the rounds. The video’s capture has been connected to another former Collingwood player, according to Magpies CEO Craig Kelly.

The club wants to clarify that both of these claims are false and that neither any current or former Collingwood players nor their partners are shown in the video that is circulating.

“It is crucial to emphasize that it is illegal for anyone in the public to distribute explicit content without getting everyone’s permission.

Throughout this difficult time, “We will continue to support all of our players and their families.”
