Raheem Mostert and Tyreek Hill’s historic games against the Carolina Panthers are the talk of the week.

Hill amassed 814 receiving yards after tearing up the Panthers for 163 yards in Week 6 to raise his season total to 2023, which is the highest in a season’s first six games in the Super Bowl history. Hill was already the only Dolphins player (he had 701 receiving yards in his first six games of 2022) to record 700 or more receiving yards in a season.

Hill equaled Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson for the third-most games with at least 150 receiving yards and a touchdown in a player’s first eight seasons with his 12th career game.

Mostert scored three more touchdowns against the Panthers, bringing his season total to eight, which he shared with Christian McCaffrey at the beginning of Week 6.

Shaun Alexander, who scored 12 touchdowns in six games in 2005 en way to winning MVP, is the only player since the 1970 merger to have more touchdowns in the first six games of a season than Mostert.

The Bears, who led the other nine NFL teams in both categories and finished the season with an NFL Championship victory in 1941, were the last club to accomplish this feat. The Dolphins now top both the NFL in rushing and passing yards.

As a final point, the Dolphins are the only NFL club to average more than 150 running yards a contest (181.8). Additionally, they are the only club with a throwing yardage average of at least 300 (316.8).

2) Christian McCaffrey keeps racking up goals

Sadly, McCaffrey’s day was cut short due to an oblique injury, but not before he scored a touchdown for the 15th straight game.

The longest such stretch in NFL history, including playoffs, belongs to McCaffrey’s 15-game streak of scrimmage touchdowns. The last player to have a scrimmage touchdown in 15 straight games before McCaffrey was Hall of Famer John Riggins in the early 1980s.]

3) Despite a defeat, A.J. Brown makes plays happen

In Week 6 against the Jets, the Eagles were restricted to just 14 points and suffered their first loss of the year, but Brown still had a fruitful day that puts him in uncommon company.

Brown now has the longest run in Eagles franchise history, having recorded at least 125 receiving yards in four straight games.

The Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson, who did it for five straight games in 2012 while setting the NFL record for receiving yards in a season (1,964 in 2012), is the only player to have had a longer run of games with 125 or more receiving yards since the 1970 merger.

4) The Browns Defence goes above and above to defeat Mr. Irrelevant

For the first time in NFL history, Brock Purdy was defeated by the Browns in a game that he began. They were not included in the Week 6 Stats and Records page for that reason, though.

No team had done what the Browns’ defence accomplished in more over 50 years. The Browns have only given up 1,002 total yards in five games. They do indeed surrender an average of 200.5 yards each game.

Since the 1971 Baltimore Colts (836 yards), no team has allowed less yards through five games.

6) Adam Thielen makes new record for Carolina

Strange but true, Thielen already has more games with at least 10 receptions, 100 receiving yards, and a touchdown this season (three) than any other player has in a season in Panthers history.

In total, Thielen has 24 games with at least 100 receiving yards in his career, the third-most 100-yard receiving games by an undrafted player in the common draft era (since 1967).

Only Rod Smith (30 games) and Wes Welker (28) have more.
