Former Michigan Football offensive coordinator Al Borges evaluates the offense’s performance in the 52-10 victory over Minnesota.

Every week, TMI’s Sam Webb and former Michigan offensive coordinator Al Borges team up for the Michigan offensive breakdown, a look back at the previous week’s game with a deep dive into game strategy and analysis. Borges draws on his decades of coordinating expertise to illustrate critical insights for the Wolverines’ future. “I’m not an easy teacher, (and) these guys are grading pretty well these days,” Al Borges says. Overall, the offensive line was excellent. For the whole offensive line, I had 20 minuses. That’s incredible. That’s a fantastic game. They received an A from me. That’s the first straight A I’ve awarded them all year. I graded tight ends a B+ because they were good. They just had a handful of difficulties, but they were OK. Wide receivers could have blocked a little better, but I gave them a total of six minuses. But they got a B…they were OK. JJ received an A-. He missed four balls that I believed he could have finished, but he was otherwise excellent. In addition,

“The overall grade was A-minus/A.” It was an A, you know. I mean, you don’t get any turnovers, and you don’t get too many penalties. You may be nitpicky if you want, and God knows I am. But that offensive performance… add two touchdowns on defence… Another problem – the opening offence only ran 43 plays. This is the third or fourth time they’ve had fewer than 50 plays. They did, however, maximise their efficiency on those 43 plays. So, altogether, fairly nice performance.”
