The news that renowned centre Tom Opacic has pledged his long-term future to the club has given Hull KR a big boost. Opacic, who joined from the Parramatta Eels with a year left on his first contract, has now extended his stay until at least 2025.

Opacic has rapidly established himself as a key player in his first season with Rovers, demonstrating his abilities with nine tries in 29 games while also supporting the right-edge defensive framework. He has been a crucial element of the team’s future aspirations thanks to his essential services on both ends of the pitch.

The Australian’s choice to extend his contract demonstrates his devotion to the cause and conviction in the club’s vision. It retains a core group of key players at Craven Park for the foreseeable future for seasons to come and is aiming big for the Red and Whites by joining players like James Batchelor and George King in securing their long-term careers with the Robins this season.

Opacic said of signing his new contract: “When that chance (for the extension) came along, I seized it with both hands. This year, we wanted to finish in the top 4 in the Super League. In addition, we advanced to the Cup final at Wembley. We’ll now focus on returning to Wembley and achieving a top-two Super League finish in the next season.

We’re absolutely happy to see Tom extend, said Hull KR Head Coach Willie Peters in response to Opacic’s new contract. He’s been really reliable this year. I was aware that we would be bringing over a reliable centre.
