Taylor Adams’ transfer to Sydney won’t be simple because Collingwood is unwilling to let the seasoned midfielder go without a fight.
Despite the veteran’s request for a move to Sydney, Taylor Adams is still a necessary player, according to COLLINGWOOD football manager Graham Wright.
On Sunday, Adams formally requested a move after being injured and missing the Magpies’ championship victory.
He still has one season left on his current deal with the team.

Wright claimed the Magpies still had a good connection with Adams and hadn’t ruled out keeping the vice-captain at Collingwood in an interview with Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio.
“Players have a right to investigate. Taylor still has one year left on his contract, and we consider him to be an essential player. That’s what we’ve told him, Wright added.
“He told us yesterday that he wanted to consider moving to Sydney.
He is under contract, so there is undoubtedly a chance for him to remain. Taylor and I have a great connection, and we’ve had some excellent chats, but he wants that deal.
Wright said that the Magpies and Sydney had not yet spoken about a potential trade.
“We’ll have a look at it, but he (Adams) knows that it might not get done and he’s playing with us,” Wright stated.
“We’ve had a little bit of a look but we haven’t actually spoken to Sydney.”
Sydney claimed that its ambition to acquire ruckman Brodie Grundy and Adams from Melbourne is motivated by a desire to strengthen its midfield and aspire to the seasoned list profiles of previous title teams.

According to Swans football manager Charlie Gardiner, “We’ve got the youngest midfield in the competition, in a time when the most successful teams of the last two years have had the most experienced midfield group.”
“We believe (Grundy) can really benefit us in that area, which is another reason we are interested in Taylor (Adams).”
“We need some support around our midfield.”
