The Detroit Red Wings’ regular season opening is now less than one week away, and as the exhibition series comes to an end, their roster is beginning to take shape. The organization has added a total of eight players to its waiver list in the wake of Friday night’s extra-time defeat to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Taro Hirose, Tim Gettinger, Austin Czarnik, Jared McIsaac, Wyatt Newpower, Nolan Stevens, John Lethemon, and Brogan Rafferty are a few of the Red Wings players who were cut today.
With 60 games with the Red Wings, Taro Hirose, a Michigan State player, has the most NHL experience of all the guys mentioned above. Czarnik, meanwhile, played in 29 games last season, mostly on Detroit’s fourth line, where he scored five points.

DEARBORN — Ben Chiarot skipped the first nine days of the 2023 Training Camp due to personal reasons before reporting back to the Detroit Red Wings on September 30.
Chiarot, a 32-year-old defenseman, thinks he is already making progress despite the fact that he still needs to catch up before Detroit’s regular season opener against New Jersey on Thursday.
Chiarot commented, “I’ve felt pretty good in games,” during Friday’s workout at the BELFOR Training Center at Little Caesars Arena. In terms of getting your feet under you or being in game form, obviously missing a lot of training camp doesn’t help. But I think it’s progressing fairly well. In the summer, I make an effort to look after and prepare for myself.
Chiarot, who has played in the NHL for ten years, still thinks the first few days of training camp are very important.
He said, “The first few days of camp are usually pretty tough.” “Heavy skating, get your feet and legs beneath you, and get used to playing rough. doing everything you wouldn’t normally do in the summer. Although the first week is crucial, I have felt okay thus far.
Chiarot stated that going into his second season with the Red Wings, he feels more at ease.
You’re having trouble navigating the space, the city, and the various people, remarked Chiarot. “It just feels like I’m coming home now.”
