Chris Basham of Sheffield United has suffered a terrible injury in today’s match against Fulham.

Basham’s ankle fell way as he attempted to cross the ball into the Fulham box, breaking it severely, according to The Sun.

Basham’s ankle slipped way from under him, making it clear that he was in excruciating pain.

The game then saw a protracted delay while Basham received treatment on the pitch.

As the 35-year-old lay on the Craven Cottage field, ambulance personnel had to administer oxygen.
Paul Heckingbottom, the manager who was worried, violated protocol by going onto the field of play to assist his player.

The medics eventually transferred him on a stretcher and left the stadium with him.

In a touching moment, Basham’s bravery in the face of the injury was praised by both sets of fans.

Despite obviously being in a lot of discomfort, Basham managed to wave his hand to the gathering of supporters and thank them for their support.
Basham is currently being transported to the hospital by ambulance from the stadium.

Replays were not displayed since the images of the ankle break were so horrifying.

In order to compensate for the lengthy wait at Craven Cottage, the first half was extended by a total of 14 minutes.

Once the game resumed, Fulham went on to win 3-1.
