Jeremy Sarmiento, a top forward for West Bromwich Albion, has been dealt an injury setback that will keep him out of the lineup for a few weeks, according to manager Carlos Corberan.
Last night at the Hawthorns, the Baggies defeated the struggling Sheffield Wednesday team 1-0. John Swift’s goal in the 13th minute was all it took to secure the victory and move Corberan’s team into the playoff spots.
Jeremy Sarmiento, who has played for West Brom in every Championship game this season, was absent from the team for last night’s home game, and the boss has now announced that the Ecuadorian international will be sidelined for several weeks with a quadriceps injury.
He complained of some quadriceps soreness. At the conclusion of the Preston game, he was playing a few minutes when he had left quadricep muscle pain.
“He was receiving therapy for this problem on Sunday, and when the physicians checked, when the pain persisted and didn’t go away, they produced a scan, which revealed an injury yesterday.
He will be separated from the group for four weeks as a result. It’s challenging,” he added.
It’s challenging because it will effect you, as I found out yesterday that he would be sidelined for four weeks. Although I never want to lose a player, it doesn’t imply we don’t have any options.
The Brighton and Hove Albion loanee may only miss two or three games over the upcoming international break, including this weekend’s match at Birmingham City.

Sarmiento has played a crucial role for the Baggies off the bench despite having started just one game this year, a scoreless draw with Millwall more than a week ago.
If West Brom struggles to break down a team late in the game and needs something new, the Ecuadorian’s ability off the bench will be missed over the coming weeks.
The manager was quick to downplay the extent of his recuperation and was eager to allay any concerns of a potential return in the near future. He also stated that the club is still helping him on his lengthy road to recovery.
Corberan also suggested that a decision would be taken on the defender’s future at the organization, with a potential loan on the table if, upon his return to fitness, he is not ready to play for the Baggies
On September 29, the West Brom boss admitted in an interview with the Express & Star that “a player sometimes needs minutes to restore his level, especially at his age. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury in his debut for Wigan.
“For instance, Friday is the first day he will work with one of our technical staff members, therefore we are assisting him in the recuperation process.
He’ll have one more player after that. It is more challenging for him to be prepared to play knowing that he would miss eight months of football.
