Following the firing of a former Cardiff City manager, former Bristol City manager Keith Millen has returned to the world of football administration.
When Millen was in command of Carlisle United in February 2022, he decided to leave company with the Cumbrians amicably. As Gillingham’s interim manager, he will now sit in the dugout for the first time in 19 months.
Despite having a strong start to the season, the League Two club has decided to part ways with former Cardiff City and Millwall manager Neil Harris. Gillingham is now eighth in the league rankings, behind league-leading Notts County by just four points. Harris was fired at this time.
His squad hadn’t won since September 16, when they defeated Morecambe with ten men, and his final act as manager was to preside over a 2-0 loss to Crewe Alexandra.
Gillingham Football Club announced its decision to part ways with Manager Neil Harris, who had been in command at Priestfield for just over 20 months, in a statement.
The Club has made the decision to move in a different path and will start the search for a Head Coach to lead the team going ahead.
He managed the under-17 team before serving as Brian Tinnion’s assistant and, twice, acting as the club’s interim manager. When Steve Coppell abruptly left the club on the eve of the 2010–11 season, he was offered the position in August 2010.
In his 14 months as coach at Ashton Gate, Millen oversaw 57 games and guided the team to a 15th-place finish. Later, he accepted the position of assistant manager at Crystal Palace, where he collaborated with Alan Pardew, Neil Warnock, Tony Pulis, and Ian Holloway while serving as caretaker manager.
