Jamie Paterson thinks Swansea City’s ability to overcome a challenging start to the season and earn three straight victories is largely down to their teamwork and commitment.
Michael Duff’s club now has nine points from the last nine available after defeating Norwich City 2-1 on Wednesday night. They are also unbeaten in four games after drawing against Queens Park Rangers during this run.
Swansea’s recent run of success has been characterized by their vigorous pressing activity without the ball, with Paterson among those who worked extremely hard and frequently helped the Swans regain control.
Paterson believes that the Swans are demonstrating a desire to cooperate with and assist one another in all facets of the game by impressing in possession, where they have scored nine goals in their last four games.
Following a 2022–23 season marred by injuries, the midfielder is also enjoying his time on the field and is ready to keep improving.
“The fans can see we have each other’s backs, all the guys are working hard in the press together,” he remarked.
“I’ve mentioned it before, but it really is a terrific group. We have had a difficult stretch, but we have remained steadfast, and we have earned these victories. However, there is another game coming up soon, and we are hopeful that we can carry another victory into the international break.
“There are only two options available to you after the start we had. Either you can accept that everyone is against you and wallow in your misery, or you can band together and take action—which is what everyone has done.
“We had to work hard to attempt to discover the correct recipe, and you can tell that everyone is working hard, which demonstrates the group’s strength.
Personally, I’m having fun because I’m playing at number 10, which is more naturally where I belong. The essential thing is that I am well and getting healthier, and when I am healthy, I prefer to express that enthusiasm.
Due to injuries, last season was kind of a write-off. However, I want to start increasing my goal total. Despite this, I am undoubtedly having fun.
The responsibility of becoming a senior member of the Swansea team is something the 31-year-old is also relishing.
He chuckled and continued, “I guess you fall into that role when you look around and realize everyone is a lot younger than you.
erience, I’ve played a lot of games in the Championship, I’ve been there a lot, and I want to help the young lads as much as I can,” he continued.
We have experienced individuals like Grimesy and Ben Cabango, who is young yet loud. We have leaders, and I want to support the whole team.
